Finding your inner entrepreneur: how to see opportunity and build a business around it

Out-of-the-box thinking is nothing new to entrepreneur Kary Radestock. With 25 years in commercial branding and packaging she recognized the enormous opportunity the cannabis industry could bring to a packaging business. After spending six months doing research and building a business plan, her company decided against moving forward and asked Kary to give up the idea. Instead she struck out on her own, forming Hippo Premium Packaging and the solutions she’s brought to that industry won her the title of “Cannabis Industry Woman of the Year.” In her session, Kary will share:

Peter Gunning

CEO at Nettl

Peter started a design business in the nineties, whilst studying Accountancy & Finance. In 1998, he opened the first printing.com store in Edinburgh, Scotland. He pioneered the franchise store formula and marketing, growing the network to 300 locations. In 2012 he became Chief Technology Officer and the architect of software and systems, licensed around the world. Peter Gunning took over as CEO of Nettl’s parent company in 2014.

The twisted tale of the printer who totally transformed

The largest chain of print shops in the UK stared into the abyss. They saw declining sales and eroding margins. They knew they had to change. They became Nettl. Over the last 5 years, they transformed into a network of digital-first neighborhood business stores. There are over 220 Nettl locations around the world. Now they’re in America. Their systems and software empower graphic businesses to evolve. Peter Gunning, CEO of Nettl will tell the tale and lessons they’ve learned along the way:

Rob started his print career as part of the team that built the Printing.com Network in 2000. He used this knowledge as the basis to start his own design and print business, powered by the printing.com formula. This ran successfully for 8 years. In 2014 He was recruited by Grafenia PLC to work on the evolution of their retail print shop model. Rob pioneered the pilot Nettl studio in Birmingham, led the development of the London location, and worked to launch and develop the groups UK studio format.

Rob became commercial director for Nettls partnership formula and led the UK roll-out. Rob then worked on the European growth model and partner acquisition structure. Rob is currently working on developing the Nettl franchise proposition in the USA following its recent launch in Florida.
